Mbuya Marufu burial awaits Grace’s return

Burial arrangements for the late

Mbuya Ida Marufu (83), the mother of former First Lady Grace Mugabe who died in Harare on August 31 at the Trauma Centre in Harare will only be known on Monday after the return of Grace who is currently out of the country.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Dr Mike Bimha in an interview with The Mirror today.

Many family members are currently gathered at the Marufu Homestead in Ranga Village under Chief Mutekedza in Sadza District.

Family members who spoke to The Mirror said that Mbuya Marufu would be buried at her rural home and mourners were busy sprucing up the homestead and the family graveyard when The Mirror crew visited early today (Saturday).

Mbuya Marufu had five children, Reward (late) who died in 2010 and was declared a provincial hero. He was buried at the Marufu homestead in Chikomba where Mbuya Marufu is likely to be buried. Her second daughter is Grace then Rosemary  (Mai  Chidhakwa), Junior  (Mai Gumbochuma, and Winston.

Analysts said that as the mother of a former First Lady it is expected that she will get a State assisted burial
