1433: He says the war vets making noise have no idea of how the association started. He says newspapers reports regards the President’s participation in the struggle were lies. He says the war effort gained momentum because of his leadership skills.

1430: “Chinotimba is now on the podium and he says “the stories of Nhando, Mahiya, Matemadanda are not war vets, it’s a clique. We can never hear of war vets denouncing the President…those people were defeated in primary elections within the party yet real war vets like me won constituencies…we will now go sort out the war vets,”

1419: “The people have told me that we cannot keep using parallel structures..we are tired of being threatened…we voted Mutsvangwa out and he’s not our leader..if you can’t chase away each other today, let’s go for a special congress and we will help you to chase them away,”

1415: “What was known as Tsholotsho was led by  Mnangagwa, this Lacoste is now led by  Mnangagwa..as you seat there you are now two Governments because some ministers are known to be supporters of Mnangagwa,”

1412: Mandi Chimene is now addressing the gathering. She says she doesn’t want to hear of issues that hurt the President because she it also hurts her.

“They started way back when we heard of Tsholotsho….we have nurtured it..it’s now here again, if people are smart they create something that looks like his his. The person who created Lacoste also created G40…I know of Lacoste and the leader. I’m accused of being a G40 member.”

1359:  Freeedom fighters from various provinces being called to the podium. Cde Mlala has reiterated that they are not gathering under the auspices of ZNLWVA

1348: Dickson Mafios, Mashonaland Central chairman, has called for those with Presidential ambitions to declare their interests today and call for a special congress.

1328: Mlala has finished his address and the people are now singing revolutionary songs.

1323:  Mlala says Mgagao was not an entire system, it was a simple camp that could not take a decision on behalf of other camps.

“Our meeting is to show that the President will remain in power forever,”

1321: He says those who say the President must go after 36 years should go hang.

“We ended up in an inclusive Government because of some rogue war veterans. That inclusive Government was rejected by the people. Those war vets who think millions of voters made a mistake in 2013 are a joke,”

1320: “We are here not as an association but as freedom fighters. We chose President Mugabe in 1980.You are now being told about a Mgagao 2 we say Mgagao can not choose a leader of a country. It’s the people who choose the president. I am not speaking as a member of the association but as a war veteran,”

1315: “We are gathered here to show our support to  President Mugabe who is the Head of State and Commander in Chief of the Defence Forces,” says  Mlala

1153: Members of the Womens League Eunice Sandi Moyo, Sarah Mahoka and Mabel Chinomona have arrived and took their seats at the top table. Meanwhile, Security and Protocol personnel have blocked Cdes Nyaruwata and Mlala from the top table.

1147: Partick Nyaruwata and George Mlala as well as Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs  Mandi Chimene are also present.

1140: Minister of Defence and Zanu-PF Secretary for War Veterans,Detainees, Restrictees and their Welfare Dr Sydney Sekeramayi and Minister of Home Affairs as well as the party’s Secretary for Administration Dr Ignatius Chombo are already here.

1127: Thousands of war veterans and Zanu-PF supporters  are gathering at the revolutionary party’s headquarters for a solidarity meeting with President Mugabe. The veterans and supporters have been drawn from the country’s 10 provinces.

So far the main tent is still being pitched while people are being entertained by various chimurenga choir groups. The meeting to show solidarity was mooted after an unsigned communique renouncing President Mugabe’s leadership was published last week.

The communique has been linked to the Christopher Mutsvangwa led Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) but the association has disputed the accusations.
