Man Bashes Wife for Attending Mnangagwa Rally

Farai Nguvaino (31), a council employee at Masvingo RDC who was not at home on the day of the rally frantically sent mobile phone messages to his wife Nyembesi Gwatiringa ordering her not to get into busses that ferried supporters to the rally or let alone to go to the rally.
Gwatiringa complied with the instruction but failed to reply to the messages because she had no money in her phone.
The court was not told why Nguvaino blocked his wife from attending a Zanu PF rally.
Getting no responses to his messages, Nguvaino concluded that his wife disobeyed him and attended the rally. Nguvaino got home late in the afternoon and found his wife at home and without asking questions, he started assaulting her with a switch all over the body for attending Mnangagwa’s rally.
She suffered injuries as a result and was medically examined at Morgenster Mission Hospital. She reported the matter to the Police after hospital staff refused to serve her unless she brought a Police report.
Provincial Magistrate Langton Ndokera found Nguvaino guilty as charged and fined him $50 or 20 days in prsion.
Fidelis Nyamukondiwa prosecuted.
