Man in trouble for exposing manhood to minor

A HARARE man has been brought before the courts for beating his wife after she reproached him for displaying his manhood to their three-year-old child.

Oswell Chigede was facing two counts of physical abuse with the State alleging that in a separate incident he also assaulted his wife after she denied him sexual intercourse because she was on her menstrual cycle.

Chigede pleaded guilty to the first count, but denied the last one when he appeared before resident magistrate Anita Tshuma on Thursday, who remanded him in custody to March 10.

The State had opposed bail citing that Chigede had pleaded guilty to one offence and had already been convicted.

The State further said Chigede could interfere with the witness, Peserai Chikafu, as they resided at the same place as wife and husband.

Allegations against Chigede are that on December 16 last year, he opened his zip and exposed his manhood in the presence of their three-year-old.

The court heard that when his wife confronted him, he became angry and slapped her three times.

The State further alleges that on Tuesday last week, Chigede got home at around 3am and woke up Chikafu for sexual intercourse.

The State alleges that Chikafu then told Chigede that she could not have sex with him because she was on her menstrual cycle.

This did not go down well with Chigede, who then struck her with a shoe on the head.

Chikafu did not produce a medical report as proof in court. Tafara Chirambira appeared for the State.-AMH
