AFTER having had enough of his 24-year-old son’s threats and assaults, a Mutare man approached the civil courts for a protection order against him.
Godfrey Mudariki (senior) of House Number 1744 , Chikanga Phase 2, appeared before Miss Nyasha Kuture seeking a protection order against his namesake whom he described as violent and abusive.
The former told the court that his son was a drug addict who has become a threat to the lives of all family members.
”I have had enough and I now want the court’s intervention. He has gone to the extent of beating his own mother, not to talk of one of his brothers whom he left for dead a few months ago. He is an alcoholic and drug abuser. This has resulted in him becoming mentally challenged.
”I no longer want him at my place. Otherwise I am going to axe him and end up in prison. He is my son of course, but it is better he stays away from my house. I need peace with my family,” said Godfrey Snr.
Responding to the allegations levelled against him by his father, the 24-year-old son told the court that he was so bitter because his father could not afford him a chance to go to school.
”I could not go to secondary school because my father had a big family consisting of three wives and a lot of children. I have no future Your Worship and everything seems normal to him. I shall not rest,” said Godfrey Jnr.
In her ruling, Miss Kuture granted the order in favour of Godfrey Snr.
She told Godfrey Jnr that he would be imprisoned if he ever set his foot on his father’s compound, insult or disturb his peace in any way.
