Manchester United to refund ticket costs for remaining home matches due to coronavirus pandemic

Manchester United insist they are ‘committed’ to refunding fans for their remaining 2019/20 home games – that are expected to be played behind closed doors when the season resumes.

Premier League football has been suspended since March 13 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

There are plans in place for top-flight football to resume next month, but matches will be played without fans in attendance.

And United have urged their supporters to stay home on matchdays.

In an email to fans, the Red Devils wrote: “We share your disappointment that you will not be able to watch United in person from within the stadium, but we would encourage you to give your continued loyal support from the comfort and safety of your home.

“To help with that, the Premier League and their media partners will work to deliver the very best broadcast coverage of our games.

“We also ask for your co-operation not to travel to any stadiums at which we are playing on matchdays.

“By supporting from home and following government guidance, you will be playing your part to keep your friends, your family and all United fans safe.

“This united effort to stay at home will give us the best chance of protecting the health of everyone in our community.

“We are committed to refunding ticket costs for these games and want to make the process as easy as possible for all supporters.”

United’s remaining Premier League home games are against Sheffield United, Bournemouth, Southampton and West Ham, while they still need to host LASK in the Europa League round-of-16 second leg, but a return date for European football remains unknown.
