Maritzburg United have decided to grant Evans Rusike a period of rest after he sustained a minor injury to his knee in their last league match against Highlands Park.
The knee discomfort has since forced Rusike to miss out on the Zimbabwe national team’s friendly international match against Tanzania set to be played on Sunday in Harare as part of The Warriors preparations for the 2017 AFCON finals.
Although Rusike played 90 minutes in that game against Highlands he departed the pitch feeling an irritation on his knee which subsequently forced the club to send him for a MRI scan.
Fortunately the scan shows that there wasn’t any severe damage but some fluid related issues which necessitated a rest period that includes physiotherapy treatment.
Rusike has not been training with the rest of his teammates this week but is expected to have recovered for the club’s next league match against Ajax Cape Town on November 19.
Following an impressive first season at the club last term which ignited widespread interest in his services the 26 year-old has been tasked with leading the front line for this campaign starting all of the eight league games that Maritzburg have played to date. KickOff.com
