Marry Mubaiwa, the former wife of Vice-President Constantino Chiwenga, has suffered further health setbacks, with doctors recently amputating her left leg to address a severe condition affecting her limbs. Mubaiwa is afflicted with acute lymphoedema and spontaneous abscess formation, which have resulted in large open wounds on her arms and legs. This follows the amputation of her right arm in September 2022.

Currently admitted to a private hospital in Harare, Mubaiwa required significant persuasion to agree to the latest amputation procedure.
In addition to her severe health issues, Mubaiwa is embroiled in ongoing legal battles that have drained her finances. She faces multiple charges, including money laundering and an attempt to end the Vice-President’s life while he was hospitalized in South Africa in 2019.
Her lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, expressed profound concern over Mubaiwa’s deteriorating condition, describing it as one of the most traumatic cases she has encountered. Mubaiwa’s mother, Helga, who was unavailable for comment, previously mentioned that her daughter is enduring this challenging period through God’s grace.
