FOUR war veterans who were arrested this week facing accusations of undermining the authority of President Robert Mugabe were Wednesday granted $300 bail each by a Harare magistrate.
The Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) secretary general Victor Matemadanda, vice-chairman Headman Moyo and the association’s Harare chapter deputy chair, Hoyini Samuel Bhila and Francis Nhando were arrested in connection with a damning communique in which the liberation war fighters said Mugabe was a dictator.
Their arrest followed that of ZNLWA spokesman Douglas Mahiya who spent the last weekend in police cells only to be granted $ 300 bail with reporting conditions on Monday. On Wednesday magistrate Vakai Chikwekwe also slapped the four with reporting conditions.
