Minister Parirenyatwa drives 300km to open a $500 clinic in Nyanga

The Health Outpost at Bende in Nyanga

Minister of Health and Child Welfare Dr Parirenyatwa on Wednesday officially opened a $500 clinic at Bende in Nyanga. The clinic is the first of six that are expected to be built in Manicaland under the End Malaria Campaign. The ministerial entourage’s trip to Bende cost way more than the government’s investment.

The End Malaria Campaign was launched amidst pomp and fanfare in 2016 and it had been anticipated that the government would take advantage of the opportunity to build a more robust medical facility that could cater for other needs of the community. The community of Bende do not have a clinic capable of sustaining maternity needs and still people will have to walk more than 10km to the nearest health facility.

The decision to celebrate a $500 clinic also smacks in the face of a community that is set to be at the frontline of the anticipated pneumonic plague that has moved into Mozambique after killing more than 150 people in Madagascar.

Present also was the MP for Nyanga Mr Supa Mandiwanzira who lauded the erection of the clinic and attributed it to the good leadership of the 93 year old President Mugabe.
