Mnangagwa Frees 2500 Prisoners

MORE than two thousand inmates have been released from the country’s prisons under the Amended amnesty for 2020.
For 22 years Jorum Siwela has been confined within the walls of Harare central prison, the better part of it was spent in isolation.
Having been convicted of murder he was facing a death sentence which was later commuted to life imprisonment.
But today courtesy of the Presidential Amended amnesty he is out of prison alongside 6 other inmates who were serving life sentences.
The seven are part of the 2,528 inmates released today.
“I stayed in this prison for 22 years and am really grateful to the President for granting us this amnesty. we are now reformed and will abide by the laws of the country,” said Jorum Siwela
Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services-ZPCS Officer commanding Harare metropolitan province, Senior assistant commissioner Alvord Gapare called on society to embrace the returnees.
“Embrace these people they are now reformed and we call upon society to welcome them,” said Gapare
