Mnangagwa to send all civil servants to ideology school

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration has approved the establishment of an ideological school which will be tasked to produce patriotic civil servants.

The details contained in the 14th Cabinet Matrix minutes confirm the decision has since reached an advanced stage of implementation.

“Cabinet considered and approved the principles to Establish the Public Service Academy after presentation by the Public Service Minister. The Public Service Academy will modernise staff development programmes through service training,” reads the minutes in part.

The objective of the academy is also to ramp up the effectiveness, efficiencies, representation and ethical conduct by the entire public service.

“The Academy will also undertake consultancies and research for the development of patriotic citizen-centric, and innovative public servants capable of attaining national policies and programmes like Vision 2030,” the document added.

However, the development comes at a time when civil servants who are earning salaries below the cost of living are expecting increments which can be the legitimate source of motivation.

Recently, Zanu-PF established the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology which is tasked with indoctrinating party members with the party’s principles.

However, the ruling party has been accused of enlisting  graduate teachers who will undergo the Herbert Chitepo Ideological School training before deployment, a move that is meant to instill patriotism as well as avoid future job actions. – Zimbabwe Voice
