Multi-award winning hip-hop artiste Mudiwa Mtandwa has bounced back with a new video titled “Set Free”.
The video was shot in South Africa using powerful HD DSLR cameras, the high-tech tool which international artistes like Trey Songs, Amelia and Pussycat Dolls use in their videos.
The video features Blessing Maramba also known as GGB in music circles as well as TyFa Guni and Markavieli.
In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, the talented rapper said the video was inspired by the societal settings and blessings from God.
“The video features GGB on the first verse, while TyFa Guni and Markavieli did the chorus.
“We had to do a top-notch video because it was long overdue with our fans wanting something special from us and because first impressions are better than a second chance.
“The song and video are about how God blesses us and raises nobodies to be somebodies in society, as you know good things come from positive confession,” he said.
Asked why he shot the video in South Africa rather than Zimbabwe, he said it was done as part of his tour.
“We shot the video in South Africa with highly sophisticated cameras, rails, cranes among other high-tech equipment in order to come up with a quality piece of work.
“You can check on the camera movements, they are something else. I was concluding my tour so I thought why not do a promo video since I was with the production team,” he said.
He said he was busy working on various projects casually dismissing speculation that his career was coming to an end.
“I am still doing shows and community projects. I have a lot to offer as I have promised myself that this is a year of opportunities. I am trying to use what is around me.
“I am busy focusing on my DVD album which is set for release sometime this year and I don’t want to produce a half-baked project. While I am working on the album, I am also currently releasing singles because they have the role of grabbing people’s attention,” he said.
The “Ndaita Mari” hitmaker said the singles market the album faster than the album itself.
He also revealed that he was making an appearance in a new movie.
“We have also finished shooting our latest movie, so now we are in the post- production stage. It is called ‘Deception’,” he said.
His song with Nox Guni, titled “Shingirira”, has been nominated in the Song of the Year category at the PaChedu Awards, which are to be held this Friday in the United Kingdom with a local presentation being held at Sphinx Club on the same night.
