A flight tracking website has added mystery on Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe’s controversial trip to Singapore – one that instead took him to Dubai, after a Jordan traffic controller revealed that the flight’s radar has been turned off deliberately .
All along, it had been reported Mugabe, 92, was forced to land in Dubai due to medical complications , where officials have refused to comment on the nature of his travel since Tuesday .
Yesterday, a source confirmed that Zimbabwe Presidential entourage was staying at the Armani Hotel at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai , but Mugabe’s whereabouts remained unknown.
“Flight has contact with air traffic controllers. But they have switched radar off. They requested but the reason is unknown”, an aviation source told TheZimbabwenewslive.com
The Flight Radar 24 website revealed that Mugabe flew to Singapore aboard and Air Zimbabwe UM1 Boeing 767-2 NDER, registration Z-WFP.
Mugabe is expected to address party supporters in Harare today.
