NEWSDAY editor, Nevanji Madanhire, has left Alpha Media Holdings at a time the company is battling to stay afloat due to viability challenges.
Alpha Media publishes the Zimbabwe Independent, The Standard, NewsDay and Southern Eye.

Sources said Madanhire was forced out as part of a restructuring exercise that will likely see him being replaced by Kholwani Nyathi, current editor of Southern Eye.
Nyathi’s struggling Southern Eye will be turned into a NewsDay supplement.
Alpha Media confirmed Madanhire’s departure in a statement seen by NewZimbabwe.com.
“We are sad to announce the departure of Nevanji Madanhire, NewsDay Editor from the business. Nevanji exits the business after five years of dedicated commitment to Alpha Media Holdings,” the company said.
“Nevanji was appointed editor of the NewsDay in January 2014 after having been editor of The Standard and deputy editor of The Zimbabwe Independent.
“Nevanji’s departure is in line with the organisations restructuring exercise which will see the Southern Eye move from a daily publication to a supplement in the NewsDay with effect from the 1st April 2015.”
Wisdom Mdzungairi has been appointed acting editor.
During his time at AMH and while still editor of The Standard, Madanhire successfully fought for the removal of criminal defamation from the statutes after the constitutional court, early this year, ruled that the legislation was not justifiable in a democratic society.
This was after he was arrested together reporter Nqaba Matshazi for criminally defaming Green Card chairperson Munyaradzi Kereke.
