Rutendo Matsika, a 32-year-old Norwich rapper known as Coll, has been charged with attempted murder after a double stabbing in Costessey. Matsika, who has performed at the popular Latitude music festival, was arrested following the violent incident on Blackhill Wood Lane late Monday afternoon during the Bank Holiday.
The victims, identified as Craig Herron, in his 40s, and Adrienne Herron, in her 30s, sustained severe injuries in the attack. Craig Herron’s injuries are reported to be life-threatening, while Adrienne Herron suffered serious head and arm wounds that are not considered life-threatening. Authorities have confirmed that the suspect and the victims were known to each other.
Matsika, a resident of Church Road, Griston, has been formally charged with attempted murder, grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of a bladed article. He appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court this morning, where he confirmed his name, age, and address while dressed in a black sweatshirt.
The hearing was presided over by Deputy District Judge Jacqui Appleton, who remanded Matsika in custody. A plea hearing has been scheduled for September 25 at Norwich Crown Court. Defence solicitor James Burrows stated that he would not be applying for bail, citing the serious nature of the charges.
