CHIVI – In an incident that could be a serious breach of medical ethics, Tsitsi Nyandoro (39) a midwife at Chivi District Hospital has been reported to the Police for allegedly taking pictures of a woman who was giving birth and sent them to the wife of the woman’s boyfriend.
Francisca Mugadzikwa whose newly born baby has since died reported the matter at Chivi Police Station last Wednesday under RRB No//2796852.
Masvingo Province Police spokesperson Inspector Charity Mazula said she was not aware of the matter.
Masvingo Provincial Medical Director Dr Amadeus Shamhu said Police details have visited the hospital to record statements.
He however, said that the complainant should have alerted hospital authorities before she left, which she didn’t do.
Sources told The Mirror that Nyandoro allegedly took pictures of Mugadzikwa just before, during and after labour and sent them to Liberty Huni’s wife. According to sources, Huni is Mugadzikwa’s live-in boyfriend and Nyandoro is well known to Huni’s wife as both their husbands are not just prison officers at Chivi but are friends living in the same neighbourhood. Nyandoro’s husband was identified as Garfield Mafuku.
Sources also said that the pictures taken included that of the newly born baby.
Huni said he is waiting for his day in court as he is cited in the case and is prepared to defend himself.
“I have had enough of people calling me about the issue and I want it to be resolved in court once and for all. I have no case to answer and the person who is implicating me is wasting time and I am prepared to confront the person even one on one to topedzerana,” said a livid Huni on the phone.
Mugadzikwa whose father is understood to be Policeman based in Beitbridge reported the case after her baby had died. Sources also said there was a fierce fight between Huni and his wife after the spouse received the birth pictures. Huni’s wife is said to have threatened to commit suicide as a result of the alleged infidelity.
