Mystery surrounds the decision by Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe not to announce the birth of his only daughter Bona Nyepudzayi’s son, who was born in Singapore two weeks ago.
The state media which Mugabe controls has not said anything about the birth which stirred controversy over why the despot sends his family abroad for medical care while 16 million Zimbabweans are exposed to a crumbling, dysfunctional healthcare system.

Mugabe uses the state media and several websites run by regime agents abroad to announce good or bad events affecting his family, including giving minute details of his wife Grace Mugabe’s illnesses.
The birth of Bona Mugabe’s child was only announced in a Facebook congratulatory message from Zanu PF deputy information director Psychology Maziwisa and a rally speech by labour minister Prisca Mupfumira.
Mugabe has been busy over the past weeks, travelling to New York and hosting the Togolese president for a trade event last week.
