THE Zanu-PF Politburo is agreed that only President Mugabe must stand for election at the forthcoming party congress and that he must appoint the two vice presidents and the national chairperson to assist him in running the party, a senior Politburo member has said.Addressing members of the Cross-Border Traders’ Association of Zimbabwe and Small to Medium entrepreneurs who converged at First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe’s Children’s Home in Mazowe yesterday, Cde Josaya Hungwe said some people with hideous agendas had already secured buses to ferry their own people to congress to vote.

The cross-border traders and the SMEs operators had visited Amai Mugabe’s Children’s Home to lend their support for her nomination as Zanu-PF Women’s League secretary.

“There is no one who is going to be voted into office except the President, who should then appoint the people he wants to work with,” said Cde Hungwe.

“I hear that in Masvingo they had hired many buses to carry people they had given money to go and vote. But Amai, vanhu ivavo vanyangira yaona.”

Cde Hungwe said even the media was fond of saying that the forthcoming National People’s Congress was an elective congress, but the truth was that only President Mugabe was to be elected. “Kwahi tichanovhoterana ikoko, kutanga riinhi? Bvunzai Muchinguri uyu, kwakatenderanwa wani munhu unovhoterwa ikoko woshara vanhu vaanoshanda navo,” he said.

He warned some senior Zanu-PF leaders to desist from plotting against President Mugabe because he was God-ordained.

“Regai kuzvipa ngozi, regai kuzvipa rushambwa, kubata-bata vanhu vakaiswa ruoko rwavo pamusoro pavo, regai vakadaro siyanai navo,” he said.

“Rovai anaHungwe vasina basa muchipfuura. Haikona munhu akaiswa ruoko rwake kuti utonge vanhu vangu ava . . . kana voda uchakuudza kuti zvangu ndoenda ndonogara nokuti wakaiswa ruoko rwake naJehova. Siyanai naye, siyanai nemukadzi wake, siyanayi nemhuri yake.”

Cde Hungwe urged Zanu-PF members to focus on development issues instead of plotting to unseat President Mugabe.

Speaking at the same occasion, president of the Cross-Border Traders Association of Zimbabwe Cde Killer Zivhu said members of his organisation were prepared to lay down their lives in defence of President Mugabe and the First Family. “We have come to you as your children,” he said.

“Yes, our names are not on the map, we cannot access 10 percent or even 1 percent from any company. But we want to let you know that we are prepared to support you with all our lives. Vanoshuwira kuenda kwenyu vanotanga vapedza isu vozouya kwamuri.”

Cde Zivhu said President Mugabe had been lenient with people who were undermining his leadership by their incompetence and corrupt tendencies.

He said his organisation would mobilise members to continue rallying behind the President and the First Family. Cde Zivhu appealed to the First Lady to ensure that cross-border traders were allocated land to develop residential and business stands.

He implored Zimbabwe Revenue Authority officials to desist from their heavy-handedness on cross border traders at the ports of entry.

Cde Zivhu said cross-border traders managed to sustain families during economic hardships between 2007 and 2008, showing they were committed to Zimbabwe.

Hurungwe East legislator and Women’s League secretary for finance, Cde Sarah Mahoka, said Women’s League members were prepared to march to Cabinet to physically remove VP Mujuru from office as she was now unfit to continue serving the Government.

“We must not just talk and not take action,” she said. “We are prepared to walk on foot to remove Mai Mujuru. We no longer want this woman.”

Outgoing Women’s League secretary Cde Oppah Muchinguri chronicled how problems started in the country with the formation of MDC and when the Government embarked on the land reform programme.

She expressed gratitude to members of the Zimbabwe Liberation War Collaborators Association (ZILWACO) for initiating the process of nominating Amai Mugabe for the Zanu-PF Women’s League secretary position.

“There is no country in Africa where the position of a woman is so much extolled than in Zimbabwe,” said Cde Muchinguri.

“Nhamo yedu yakatanga nekuda kupromota vamwe vedu tichifunga kuti vachapromotawo madzimai.”

Cde Muchinguri said VP Mujuru failed to push for any policies that benefited women for the past 10 years.

She urged Amai Mugabe to ensure that cross-border traders and small to medium entrepreneurs were allocated stands at growth points and in towns.-HERALD
