PROPHET Passion Java of Kingdom Embassy was arrested during service on Saturday for allegedly duping church members of different properties.
Sources said Passion was apprehended whilst he was in the middle of a church service at Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex.
He was detained at Chitungwiza Police Station for questioning before a docket was opened against him.
Passion was released from police cells that same Saturday around midnight.
Passion is said to be facing theft of trust property charges after he allegedly swindled one congregant of a Toyota Chaser and another of a 51-inch plasma colour television set.
He is expected to appear at Chitungwiza magistrate’s court today.
The motor vehicle, which belongs to Chido Pamela Mangi was recovered at number 270 Borrowdale Brooke where Passion resides and the car is currently being held by the police as exhibit.
Allegations are that Passion was temporarily given a Toyota Chaser by Chido to use for a month. He however, failed to return the car, changing goalposts and claiming she had seeded the car yet it was not Chido’s will.
He also stands accused of failing to pay for a plasma television he took from another congregant.
The congregant is claiming that Passion said he could not pay for the television as he had seeded it to God.
Tatenda Kangai, who is the owner of the plasma television set, said it was still at Passion’s house.
“The television, which he failed to pay for is still at his house. We are going to court tomorrow (today) and then he will have to answer to theft of trust property charges.
“It had been four months since he took the television set on credit and since then he has been evading to pay what he owes me.
“He owes me US$600. I am really hurt and angry at the same time that a man of cloth goes around duping people especially his congregants,” he said.
Another congregant Humba recovered his car Mercedes Benz E320 damaged with the trunk of the car failing to close while it had deformities.
