GWERU – Midlands police are on the hunt for three carjackers after a Zvishavane motorist was carjacked, stabbed and stripped naked before being dumped along the Gweru-Zvishavane highway.
Ranagarirai Chipunza, 30, from Makusha, was driving from Zvishavane to Gweru in a blue Nissan Sulphy on September 11 and had given the hitch-hiking robbers a lift, police said.

At about 7PM, near the Flamingo Tollgate in Gweru, one of the three robbers asked for recess and Chipunza complied and pulled over.
The man in the front seat then grabbed Chipunza by his neck and forced him out of the car. When he tried to resist, he was stabbed under the left eye and on his left hand with a knife.
He was forced to hand over the car keys and surrender all his possessions which included two cellphones, US$40, $70 bond notes, his identity and bank cards. The robbers stripped him naked and sped off in his car.
Cases of hijacking have been on the rise, with the Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) warning motorists to secure their vehicles.
“Police would like to urge motorists to exercise due diligence and ensure their vehicles are well secure… install alarm systems, tracking devices and anti-hijack systems as these act as preventive measures as well as assist in tracking down stolen motor vehicles,” said CID National Spokesperson Detective Inspector Portia Chinho.-zimlive
