Snitch Mahofa Rewarded For Mujuru Treachery

ACCORDING to US-based academic and political commentator, Ken Mufuka, it was Shuvai Mahofa “who, with bended knee, broke the news to President Robert Mugabe, that Joice Mujuru was a traitor”.

In a recent article on the troubles in Zanu PF, Mufuka says it was the same Mahofa – a character that has always been able to smell where the wind is blowing – who suggested that Oppah Muchinguri steps down as Women’s League boss to make way for Grace Mugabe.

Mujuru has since been fired from the vice presidency of both party and country while Grace is in a good place to strike should she be interested in taking over from her 91-year-old husband.

For her cunning industry, Mahofa got her rewards Monday when the President appointed her Minister of State for Masvingo provincial affairs, replacing Kudakwashe Bhasikiti who was shown the door last week.

The appointment, which is with immediate effect, was confirmed by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda, it was further announced.

Bhasikiti, once ridiculed by President Mugabe a few months ago for being “in the wrong basket” was given the boot for “behaviour not consistent with the expectations from him”.

Mahofa, who belongs to the Zanu PF old guard, is an ally of Vice President and faction leader, Emmerson Mnangagwa, who seems to be consolidating his control on the beleaguered party.

The firebrand politician, who last year staged a comeback from political wilderness, is Zanu PF Women’s League secretary and close associate to Grace Mugabe.

Grace is believed to have virtually taken over the running of the ruling party and is also believed to be at the centre of the firing and appointment of party loyalists to top government position
