Soul Jah Love in another Zanu PF storm

TALENTED dancehall sensation, Soul Jah Love, was on Friday caught up in another Zanu PF storm, when he defiantly continued singing at a Zanu PF youth rally in Masvingo after he had been ordered to pull off the stage to pave way for the party’s youth league leader, Kudzanai Chipanga’s speech.

Zanu PF national youth commissar, Innocent Hamandishe, who was the director of ceremonies, had a torrid time managing the crisis, as the Pamamonya Ipapo hitmaker continued singing despite being told that “it is enough, thank you”, as President Robert Mugabe was preparing to take to the stage to address the gathering.

Chipanga eventually sent some security details to stop the artiste.

“Such confusion is common among the youth whenever they meet. Remember we are youth,” Chipanga said.

Three weeks ago, Soul Jah Love caused a stir at another Zanu PF youth rally in Mutare.

Hamandishe later labelled him as “indisciplined” and a “nonentity”.

“Soul Jah Love, you are nothing. If you (crowd) keep on doing that (mobbing him), he will not perform here … Soul Jah Love, be disciplined. What are you trying to do? You’re becoming too big-headed,” Hamandishe said, as he tried to calm down an ecstatic crowd, which appeared charmed by the musician.

But the talented chanter refused to take the blows lying down.

A few days after the incident, he responded to the attack in a song camouflaged as an apology titled Zvinhu.

In the tongue-in-cheek response, Soul Jah Love said, while he was sorry about the incident, there was nothing he could do about his popularity.

In one of the lines, the chanter sings that he is not Chatunga, in reference to the First Family’s last son.

He also distances himself from Zanu PF’s Mbare-based notorious terror gang, Chipangano.
