South Africa’s house heavy weights Uhuru, Berita Khumalo, Character (who is also brother to Kwaito star Professor), Pespi (also brother to Dj Oskido) will this Saturday headline a homecoming gig dubbed “20 years of Kwaito” in Bulawayo. The artistes join several others in the annual celebrations for a South African music stable Kalawa. Speaking on the gig, promoter Vusumuzi Siqalaba of X-MO Squad said this year’s event would be bigger than all the previous years.

“We are celebrating 20 years of Kwaito music this year and what better way to do so than to invite the kings of Kwaito themselves. All is in place and all the performing artistes have been cleared for the show,” he said.

An equally star studded team of local artistes are billed to perform at the event according to the promoter.

“As a way of promoting local acts we have added some good performers that will put on a performance of their lives. We wanted to add variety to the gig and we are encouraged everyone to come out and have a fun filled night and experience what will be the biggest night of their lives.”

South African based dancehall artiste Buffalo SoulJah real name Thabani Ndlovu will also prove his mettle among local fans as he performs at the gig together with former beauty Queen Vanessa Sibanda.

Big Buff as he is affectionately known will have the chance to get the much needed recognition back home as the show is expected to draw in thousands of fans to the City of Kings.
