Watch:Cape Town DJ uses video plea to help his mother in Zimbabwe

Chris Taylor (Facebook).
Cape Town – Used to moving people with his music, a Cape Town DJ has instead released a heart-warming video asking for people to support his mother in troubled Zimbabwe.[fbvideo link=”https://www.facebook.com/ChrisTaylorDJSA/videos/10154036366483261/” width=”500″ height=”400″ onlyvideo=”1″]
The video had already received more than 4 000 views since being broadcast live on Facebook on Thursday morning.

“The current situation in Zim is relatively tough and it’s hard to get money in and out. Things are pretty hectic up there,” said a casually-dressed Chris Taylor.

“My mom [Jacqui] happens to be one of the people who is battling. She still gets by but things are quite tough.”

He said his mom had to undergo an invasive eye procedure on Friday.

“Point is she is battling with the funds for the procedure. I am not asking just for help with money. If you can just put her in your prayers and think about her and send some positive vibes and love her way, that would be great.”

He then directed people to a website where his mother, a graphic designer, sells her prints on items such as duvets, phone covers and pillows.chris-taylor

Good response

“I would really appreciate the help from anyone. Like I said, love you mom and hopefully we can help you out here.”

A wave of protests directed at ongoing economic hardships has recently hit Zimbabwe.

Taylor was brought up in the city of Harare.

He started DJ-ing at house parties and birthdays when he was 15 but moved to South Africa for bigger opportunities.

In 2012 he was announced as the winner of the Avicii SA Tour DJ competition.

After the video went live, Taylor commented that the response had been amazing.

“Massive shout out to everyone who has helped out so far!” he said.BY Jenna Etheridge, News24
