WorldRemit partners Mukuru to enable remittances to Zimbabwe

WorldRemit has partnered with Mukuru, a remittance provider in Africa, to enable cross-border money transfers to Zimbabwe.

Under the partnership, WorldRemit customers in more than 50 countries will be able to send remittances to Zimbabwe.

The service will support fund transfers from the UK, the US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and European countries.

The recipient can collect the remittances in US currency at any of Mukuru’s 120 orange booths and branches in Zimbabwe.

The service will be operational for six days a week.

WorldRemit and Mukuru agreed to leverage existing infrastructure and capabilities to offer the service.

Mukuru CEO Andy Jury said: “We are excited to be able to extend Mukuru’s valuable pay-out footprint to more customers and to harness this opportunity with WorldRemit’s global reach to expand our fast-growing global presence – while simultaneously creating new opportunities for customer-led innovation on the continent.

“These types of synergies bring immediate value to our customers, and alleviates their day to day challenges with user-friendly solutions.”

Headquartered in the UK, WorldRemit offers online money transfer services.

Last month, the company partnered with Onfido to expedite identity verification process for customers.

It also joined forces with Paykii this year to enable cross-border bill payments using app or online website.
