LOSING candidate in the Zanu PF primary elections held just before the June 10 by-elections Binali Yard was arrested yesterday afternoon after he allegedly sent abusive text messages via Whatsapp to Member of Parliament for Dangamvura-Chikanga constituency Isau Mupfumi.
Police in Manicaland confirmed the arrest of Yard but could not divulge much detail saying they are still working on the case.
“I have tried to contact those working on the case and they said they are still doing the paperwork,” said deputy Manicaland spokesperson Luxson Chananda.
Binali is expected to appear in court today.
Although police could not divulge much detail, investigations by this reporter revealed that there has been bad blood between Yard and Mupfumi since the June 10 by-elections.
In the text message allegedly sent to Mupfumi, Yard accuses the Member of Parliament for Dangamvura-Chikanga constituency of rigging the by-election.
“If you want fresh elections yangu newe unowona zero kana Makaya wako anondivhotera, I have had enough of your shit. You must grow up.
“Mudhara ini handikutye, ndakunyararira zvakwana ndorwa neni nemavhu iwe une mari, Ward 6 even udii haufe wakadiwa. Dont force people kuti vakude iwe usingadiwe, kunyarara handi kupusa, hauna kuhwina Isau wakabira and I got proof. Uri rubbish mudhara iwe do your worst I am not scared of you. Uri gudo, gudo i gudo, chero ukaripfekedza sutu rikaona muti rinomhanyira kukwira,” reads part of the message from Binali.-Manica Post.
