UK:Zimbabwe-born lad Shepherd Murombedzi Joins Hayes & Yeading

Winger Shepherd Murombedzi has switched from Vanarama National League North club Nuneaton Town to National League South outfit Hayes & Yeading United.
The 21-year-old was born in Zimbabwe but moved to England when four years old.

Spotted playing youth football in Oxford, he signed for Reading’s academy aged 12.

A winger comfortable on either flank, or in an attacking midfield role, Murombedzi earned both a scholarship and professional contract at Reading before progressing to their highly-regarded under-21 side.

Whilst a professional at Reading, he gained his first experience of senior football when out on loan to Bognor Regis Town in the Ryman League Premier Division.

After leaving Reading in the summer of 2014, Murombedzi played non-League football in the 2014/15 season at Oxford City and Banbury United.

In the summer of 2015 he joined National League side Torquay United on trial and he scored a hat-trick on his debut in a pre-season friendly – a performance that prompted Torquay to move quickly to sign him to a one-year deal, and he made his competitive debut in the season’s opening fixture, starting and playing the whole game in a 1-0 home win.

After making nineteen appearances, Torquay’s financial woes meant Murombedzi followed many players out of the club and on the 12th February 2016 he signed for Nuneaton.
