Mnangagwa Death Penalty :Under Fire Zimbabwe Vice President off to Rome

Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has left for Rome to attend the 9th edition of the International Conference of the Ministers of Justice.

The conference which is being held under the theme: ‘No Justice Without Life’ is expected to discuss the abolition of the death sentence.
The Vice President who is also the Minister of Justice is expected to address the conference on Zimbabwe’s position regarding the death penalty.
The conference runs from the 22nd to the 23rd of this month.
Zimbabwe has made great strides in removing numbers of offences that attract the death penalty and the new constitution has provisions that exempt women from facing capital punishment.
The Vice President is accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Mrs Virginia Mabhiza and senior government officials from the ministry.-ZBC
