Eugine Yafele will take over the reins of Dorset Healthcare University Foundation Trust in early 2019. This October, the organisation’s long serving leader Ron Shields announced plans to retire.

Mr Yafele became a mental health nurse in 2002 and remains on the Nursing and Midwifery register.

He previously served as the trust’s deputy chief executive after joining in 2014.

Prior to this, he held other senior roles in the NHS, including deputy chief nurse at Cornwall Partnership Foundation Trust.

Dorset Healthcare FT is part of the Dorset integrated care system and is rated “good” by the Care Quality Commission.

The £247m income trust has around 5,000 staff.

Mr Yafele said: “I am absolutely delighted to be appointed chief executive of Dorset Healthcare.

“I am confident that the trust will continue on the journey to excellence and deliver personalised and integrated care to the people of Dorset.”

Chair Andy Willis added: “Eugine has had a key role in the significant improvements made at Dorset Healthcare since he joined in 2014.”
