Leo Watadzaushe, a revenue specialist with Zimra who was based in Beitbridge but staying in Masvingo died in a horrific road accident in the early hours of Sunday when he lost control of his Toyota Allion at Shakashe River Bridge in Masvingo before sideswiping the rails and crashing head-on into an oncoming Toyota Gravia vehicle.
Information received by The Mirror indicate that the driver of the Toyota Gravia Thomas Mahiya and the owner Jenny Mapfumo, a cashier at Zinara and also based in Beitbridge sustained serious injuries and are reported to be recuperating in Masvingo Provincial Hospital.
Watadzaushe and his friend Martin Revai Sithole, the only other passenger in the car both died on the spot.
Sithole who was the Branch Manager at Kingdom Lifestyle, a land development company in Masvingo and brother to Revai Tichaona Sithole, a leading politician in ZimPF was buried at Farm 22, Eastdale in Gutu on Tuesday.
The accident happened at around 4am as the two were driving into town from Zishumbe Business Centre which is in the direction of Mutare.
Watadzaushe left behind his wife Sheeba Mazorodze and two kids.
Police spokesperson, Inspector Charity Mazula confirmed the accident.
Tichaona Sithole who spoke to The Mirror from Gutu where he was at the burial of his younger brother said Watadzaushe and his brother were best friends and his brother left behind an expecting wife and two children.
Sources said Watadzaushe was allegedly involved in a car race with a friend named Joseph Nyamapfeni when the accident happened. They said Nyamapfeni was racing in front and did not realise what happened to his colleague.
Both Watadzaushe and Sithole died after sustaining deep cuts on their foreheads, broken legs and arms.
