Zimbabwe has the third most expensive monthly mobile data in Africa behind South Sudan and Swaziland according to the latest report from Techzim.
It said a survey of 47 African countries showed that 1GB of data in Zimbabwe cost $30 a month while Swaziland was 33 cents more expensive and South Sudan three times more expensive at $90.83.
The cheapest 1GB of data is available in Tanzania at only 89 US cents, followed by Egypt  at $2.82 and Mozambique US$2.87.
Zimbabwe’s mobile phone companies sell cheaper data with 1GB costing only $2 but one has to use it in 24 hours.
Some better packages were scrapped recently when the regulatory authority cancelled promotions to curb the use of social media for activism.
