D-Day for Miss Zimbabwe

HARARE-Miss Zimbabwe Trust has said it will not be taken advantage of again and will likely unleash its wrath on beauty queen Emily Kachote if it turns out she indeed posed nude for pictures.

The trust has been tight-lipped on developments of their investigations for almost two weeks now.

Nonetheless, Kachote’s fate will be made public at a Press conference scheduled to take place today at their offices in Eastlea, Harare.

In an interview early this week, a representative, Linda Munemo refused to pre-empt the findings but indicated that they were not taking the matter lightly.

“If we do not act then it means we are weak. It means people can continue to take us for a ride . . . We are doing something about it because she (Kachote) signed a contract where she stated she never had any nude pictures. Surprisingly, she is said to have confirmed having some to H-Metro,” she said.

Munemo could neither confirm nor deny reports that the trust intended to sue Kachote for misrepresention.

If the 25-year-old financial adviser is exonerated, then it will be an egg on the face of detractors as she will be smiling all the way to Miss World.

Meanwhile, it remains to be seen if the Press conference will certainly occur today since another on the same agenda failed to take place last Friday.

Kachote has not been at peace from the night she was handed the crown by predecessor Tendai Hunda.

From then, social media went abuzz with critics blasting her for not being beautiful enough.

The nudity saga then followed but it seemed she had inherited the controversy from Hunda.

Hunda made headlines for the wrong reasons also during her reign.

She went into the Miss World pageant boot camp days late and was accused of looking hideous at Miss World last year.

Again Hunda had inherited the controversy from her predecessor Catherine Makaya who was dethroned for being a rebel.

Makaya made counter accusations of sabotage by Miss Zimbabwe Trust.

Prior to that, the baton had been passed on from Thabiso Phiri whose reign was cut prematurely allegedly because her nude pictures had leaked.

She resigned to save face after breaching the pageants rules.

Phiri took over from Bongani Dhlakama, Miss Zimbabwe 2012 who was humiliated when the trust refused to recognise her.

So goes the story of a pageant that is supposed to be nothing short of beautiful.
