MDC Vice President Tendai Biti has delivered his 20-point plan on how to get Zimbabwe’s economy working. Biti says Zimbabwe needs first and foremost to go back to the multi-currency regime “even with our own currency in place”, as long as the US dollar is in formal use.
Biti criticizes the recently introduced Zimbabwe dollar, saying the fundamentals such as production and huge exports base were not right for the introduction of a local currency.
Biti, a trained lawyer, is a former Minister of Finance during the government of national unity between 2009 and 2014, as well as chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Accounts.
