MABVUKU-TAFARA MP, James Maridadi, 48, got himself into trouble again early Wednesday when he was arrested for filming customs officials and other travellers at the Beitbridge border post.
The MDC-T legislator is also being accused of entering the country without a passport.
Reports say Maridadi was accompanying a female relative, one Natasha Jonga, a Free State University graduate who was receiving assistance from the former radio DJ to import a car from Singapore under the returning residents facility.
It is further said trouble started when the MP violently disputed an instruction by ZIMRA officials for Jonga to produce an affidavit from a parent to facilitate the clearance of her vehicle as per Customs and Excise Act.
The MP became emotional and started filming the officials.
“He then started shooting videos of customs officers and other travellers within the border post and was arrested by alert security personnel who took him to the main police station,” a witness told the Chronicle newspaper on Wednesday.
For his act, Maridadi is likely to be charged under Immigrations and the Protected Areas Act.
It is however not the first time the firebrand MP has had a brush with the law.
Maridadi was last year arrested during a Harare demonstration for jobs by party youths.
Currently, he is fighting to clear himself in the courts after being charged with unauthorised borrowing or use of property.
This followed allegations he grabbed a book which was being used to receipt motorists who were using the National Railways of Zimbabwe parking space at the Harare parcels office.
The MP had allegedly refused to pay $1 parking which was being demanded by an NRZ salesman.
