3 Catholic priests in serious road accident

Three Roman Catholic Priests including the Priest-in-charge at Musiso Mission in Zaka were involved in a serious road accident along Zaka-Chiredzi Road last week Monday that left all of them hospitalised.
The condition of Father Hilario Tauyanago who is the priest-in-charge and was driving the car, a Toyota VVTI was said to be critical with sources informing The Mirror that he had since been transferred to Harare after suffering a fractured leg and some ribs.
Masvingo Diocese Vicar General, Father Walter Nyatsanza confirmed the accident and said it was by the grace of God that the three escaped death after their vehicle was hit by an oncoming heavy truck that saw their car rolling and landing below Nyamukunga River.
The other two priests who were in the vehicle and also from Musiso Mission were Father Vista Godzongi and Father Crispen Watadza.
The accident took place about 20km before Jerera Growth Point as they approached Gumbo Business Centre on heir way to Masvingo.
An oncoming truck belonging to Swift encroached into the lane of the priests’ vehicle and this is said to be the cause of the accident.
“Three of our priests from Musiso Mission were involved in an accident last night. While approaching Gumbo Business Centre on their way from Masvingo, they met a truck at a dangerous curve which encroached into their lane. They tried to avoid it but there was nowhere to escape to as their side of the road was a steep cliff.
“The truck which belongs to Swift hit Father Tauyanago’s front wheel on the driver’s side and the vehicle swerved and landed in Nyamukunga River.
“Father Tauyanago fell unconscious after suffering serious injuries and all were ferried to Musiso where Father Tauyanago was later transferred to Masvingo and then to Harare for further treatment but he is now stable” said Father Nyatsanza.
