HOMICIDE detectives in Rusape are investigating two separate suspected murder cases in which two men were found dead, one at a church in town, and the other near at Abeid Farm along the Harare-Mutare Highway.
Abeid Farm is owned by the late Zanu-PF provincial secretary for labour and production, Cde Nathaniel Garikayi Mhiripiri, who was found dead at his farm last month.
Rusape District police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Muzondiwa Clean said the corpse found near the farm was in an advanced state of decomposition.
It has since been taken to Rusape General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
“On April 2, two herd boys, Lucky Muchichwa (18) and Timothy Chisero (18), were herding cattle at Plot One, Abeid Farm, Nyazura. They drove the cattle to Nyamapembere Bridge (Dark Bridge) to a watering point. On their way along the highway they found the corpse and alerted the police.
“The deceased was wearing a grey shirt, pair of black jean trousers, pair of grey shorts with blue strips. He is aged between 28 and 35 years and his body was decomposing. We are appealing to members of the public who are missing their male relative to go to the hospital for identification,” he said.
On Tuesday morning business was brought to a halt in Rusape’s Central Business District as people jostled to view the body of a 25-year-old man who was found dead at Family of God Church.
Ass Insp Clean said Kudzai Beaver Kurwakumire of Nyazura Township was found dead with his satchel and identity cards.
“On April 4 at around 7.30am, Clemence Mapfunde (45) of Number 210, Gopal Avenue was checking outside his yard when he found the corpse. He then made a police report.”-Manicapost
