SOUTH Africa-based online comic — Pepurai Zvemhari, popularly known as Baba Tencen’s jokes seem to have tickled businessman and socialite Zvemhari’s humour bone, as he recently pledged to give the comedian R100 000.

Sir Wicknell, as he is popularly known, posted on his Facebook: “I really like this BABA TENCEN guy but I don’t know where to find him. Someone please help me with his number. He’s the only sensible comedian we have in Zimbabwe.

If anyone knows him or where he lives in South Africa please tell him SIR is desperately looking for your mobile number because he wants a picture with you and wants to have lunch with you. As my number 1 celebrity I’m ready and willing to pay him 100 thousand rand in hard cash the day I meet him or transfer it into his South African account NOW . . . PLEASE HELP . . . MURI KUPI BABA TENCEN HAPANA ENDE HAPANA ZVAVANGANDIITE . . .”

Perhaps the pledge comes after Baba Tencen recorded a video thanking Sir Wicknell for donating a car to the Zimbabwean national football team coach Calisto Pasuwa.

Said Baba Tencen in the clip: “Wicknell wadadisa, tokudii, kutengera coach weZimbabwe mota kutofamba, kupamari kuti vakomana vatambe bhora zvakanaka, tovawanepi vanemoyo wakanaka sewako? Hautarisi nyika by its suffering, unotarisa nerudo rwekubestera. (We thank you sir Wicknell for donating a car to the Zimbabwean coach. What could we have done without you? You never looked at the country’s economic condition by suffering, but with a kind heart.),” he says in the clip.

On Friday, the online comedian was elated at having attracted Sir Wicknell’s attention

Recently, the 40 year-old comedian also bagged an advertising deal with Zororo Phumulani Funeral plan.

Baba Tencen hails from Chivi in Masvingo. He is popularly known for his Kuripwa Kugara video clips that have over the years made him popular in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.

The comedian started off as a gardener in South Africa, where he would record short video clips and post them online, which have since turned him into the celebrity he is today. Baba Tencen has three children, namely Tencen, Stancely and Nyasha.-Sundaynews
