A ZIMBABWE born drug dealer has been warned he’s facing jail after being caught with cocaine worth more than £50,000 (About US$66k) at a shopping centre in Aberdeen.

Chido Masuku, 36, was seen dealing drugs at a city shopping centre.

When he was searched he was found with a key to a property on the city’s Menzies Road.

And Aberdeen Sheriff Court was told cocaine with a value of more than £50,000 was found inside.

Masuku admitted a charge of being concerned in the supply of cocaine at the Trinity Centre and Menzies Road in the city between May 7 and October 20 last year.

Fiscal Depute Kelly Mitchell told the court police had received intelligence about drug dealing in the city centre.

She said: “On October 20, 2015, at around 2.15pm a member of staff in Debenhams had seen the accused on CCTV carrying out what he suspected was a drug deal.”

Due to this police were called and Masuku was searched, leading to the discovery of the cocaine.

Defence agent Kevin Longino said his client was originally from Zimbabwe and had moved to the UK to flee political violence.

He added that Masuku had never been in trouble before.

Longino said his client had been “set up” and accused of stealing cash from someone he had done a painting job for.

He said: “He was instructed he would have to work for that person doing what he is in court for.”

Sheriff Graeme Napier told dad-of-three Masuku, of Tamworth Street, Oldham: “It’s very likely if not inevitable that I will have to impose a custodial sentence on you.”

Sentence on Masuku was deferred until next month for a background report.
