HARARE – Top comedian, Sam Monro aka Comrade Fatso will be hosting the African Entertainment Awards USA (AEA-USA) scheduled for October 31 in New Jersey, USA.
The comedian/musician/actor will co-host the event with American comedian and actor, Hassan Oliver.
Comrade Fatso was also nominated in the Best Comedian category alongside the likes of Trevor Noah, Basketmouth and Annie Kansiime.
Congressman Donald Payne Junior of New Jersey said this is a celebration of Africans doing well in the Diaspora.
“The AEA offers the time to highlight a creative platform for Africans in the Diaspora that will contribute to the positive growth and strengthening of African communities.”
It is not only joy for Cde Fatso but for musician Selmor Mtukudzi who was nominated for the “Hottest Female Single of The Year” for her song, Nguva Yangu.
Rapper, Tehn Diamond was also nominated for “Best Hip Hop Artiste and Song” for the song Happy on which he features Junior Brown.
Tongai Chirisa was nominated for “Best Actor in a Film or Series” for his role as Friday in Crusoe and Danai Gurira was nominated for “Best Actress in a Film or Series” for her role as Simone in The Walking Dead.
This is the inaugural AEA-USA awards and it encompasses the entire continent and its talent.
Other artistes from the continent have also been nominated.
The nominees were selected by a panel of committee members who are familiar with African artists worldwide.
During the ceremony, top African artists who include Diamond Platinums, Eddie Kenzo, Ommy Dimpoz, Neyma, The Ben, Haitian super star Wanito, Barbados and Caribbean star Kirk Brown, Michael Gray featuring Special ensemble choir will perform.
Their mission is to promote, uplift, enhance and unite Africans globally and to create a platform for the voicing and advancing of African Diaspora around the world, while addressing issues affecting Africans in the United States and worldwide.
The vision is to create a United Africa, in a way Africa can be self-sufficient by creating and making decisions that are beneficial for the people of Africa.
