Wicknell Chivayo ,Phillip Chiyangwa faces arrest this week in corruption crack down:Report

Zimbabwe is to crack down on corrupt senior party and government officials in a move which if effected could bring back confidence in President Robert Mugabe’s administration which is largely blamed for condoning graft.

Four out of every five Zimbabweans say the government has failed to curb corruption which has become so institutionalized that some people believe the country cannot turn around its fortunes unless something drastic is done

Several senior government and party officials have been named in corruption casesbut they were not brought to book.

The Sunday Mail, however, says this time, “the clampdown is real”.

It quotes an unnamed source as saying: “I can assure you that arrests will be made at once. We are not tolerating corruption, and we will deal with it seriously.”

The paper says arrests could be made this week.

It lists the following as wanted or being investigated:

  1. Grace Mutandiri , permanent secretary for Lands and Resettlement
  2. Munesu Munodawafa, permanent secretary for Transport and Infrastructure Development
  3. George Mlilo, permanent secretary for Local Government, Public Works and National Housing
  4. Willard Manungo, permanent secretary for Finance and Economic Development
  5. Evelyn Ndlovu, permanent secretary for Small and Medium Enterprises and Co-operative Development
  6. Sam Kundishora, permanent secretary for Information, Communication Technology and Courier Services
  7. Karikoga Kaseke, Zimbabwe Tourism Authority chief executive
  8. Moses Juma, Zimbabwe National Roads Administration acting CEO Engineer
  9. Patrick Mavhura, Zimbabwe broadcasting Corporation acting CEO
  10. Brian Mutandiro, NetOne acting managing director
  11. Tendai Kapumha, , Premier Service Medical Aid Society MD
  12. David  Chawota, Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe MD
  13. Wicknell Chivayo  of Intratrek
  14. Phillip Chiyangwa of Pinnacle Holdings
