Tinashe Makuza an 18-year old man caused a commotion and was admitted into Pararenyatwa hospital. The young man accused of accused of robbing motor vehicles during a church service in Harare was sent to the hospital after shocking court officials and the public by going into a frenzy and bleating like a goat.
Tinashe had his court proceedings conducted outside the court house while he lay in the back of a police pick-up truck. Officials were awestruck by what seemed to be unfolding before them.
Vongai Muchuchuti, Harare Magistrate remanded Makuza in custody until July the 8th after prosecutor Sebastian Mutizirwa opposed bail because the Tinashe had to be attended to by doctors.
Doctors at Pararenyatwa have yet to identify the cause of this unusual case. Police officers have described the case is very bizarre.
“He was taken to hospital on two occasions and the doctors said he was well. But just after walking out of the hospital, he started convulsing and bleating like a goat while continuously frothing at the mouth,” said one of the policemen.
“He is not pretending as you can see. This is real and possibly it has something to do with African juju.”
According to court documents Mukuza was apprehended last week Thursday at Faith World Ministries in Belvedere after stealing a Mercedes Benz car battery after breaking the parked cars. He then moved on to robbing a Mitsubishi and finally a Toyota in which the owner was sleeping inside. This was then where members of the church chased and apprehended Mr Makuza.
