Axed Vice President and now Zimbabwe People First leader Joice Mujuru found herself in the same court gallery with under-fire war veterans chairperson Chris Mutsvangwa.

MDC-T co-vice president Nelson Chamisa and party politician Job Sikhala were also among the noticeable political figures who packed the court room in solidarity with Mahiya.

Mahiya, who was arrested last Wednesday on charges of undermining the authority of the President, was fighting for release on bail.

He was later granted $300 bail with conditions to report to police every Monday and Friday.

However, the biggest spectacle was Mujuru’s surprise appearance in the court room where she met Mutsvangwa and others.

Mujuru was thrown out of Zanu PF in 2014 after she was accused of fronting a party conspiracy to topple President Mugabe, allegations she denies up to date.

Mutsvangwa, who was linked to a rival faction led by Vice President and Mujuru’s successor Emmerson Mnangagwa, was top among those who hounded the ZimPF leader out of the party.

At one point, Mutsvangwa challenged one of the liberation war’s most interesting folklores which linked a then youthful Mujuru to the shooting of a Rhodesian helicopter, insisting she never achieved such a feat.

However, Mutsvangwa was later to suffer Mujuru’s fate after he was stripped of his ministerial job in the war veterans portfolio, his Norton constituency seat, Zanu PF membership and is currently starring another ignominious ouster as war veterans chairman.

The former Zimbabwean ambassador to China is being accused of the same offence with Mujuru, that of sponsoring a plot to remove the veteran leader.-RADIOVOP
