FUNGISAI Zvakavapano Mashavave has given a strong hint she might quit music to pursue other dreams.

After over a decade and half in the game, the diva says she intends to leave the music industry soon after delivering her last project scheduled for December.

“I feel like I have the last playing card to close the year in the form of a single and it’s my last signature on the music scene before I explore other dreams and avenues,” Fungisai said.

Fungisai, who has been topping charts with her controversial dancehall gospel compilation since the last quarter of 2015, said she had no regrets despite facing challenges as a female musician in a male dominated industry.

“There are challenges that we all have to face as career women in the music industry.

“So high and tough are the barriers to women development, so disheartening is the stigma and discrimination against female artistes.

“By God’s grace, very few female managed to make it in the male dominated industry and such success is not free from social consequences such as ridicule and everything,” she said.

Even though Fungisai will be releasing what she said was the last 2016 cake in December, she will be rounding up tours with Y2K summer festival in April 2017.

Fungisai, who is currently busy preparing for the South African church conference where she will be sharing the stage with Benjamin Dube, James Okon, Mkululi Bhebhe, and Ibiere from Nigeria, will be leaving for the United Arab Dubai where she is billed to perform at two family shows.

She expressed concern as working with all these great musicians might tempt her to go beyond her expected last mark.

“I am just crossing my fingers that I will not be inspired into collaborations with these artists because I really feel I need not go beyond my last 2016 cake in as far as my music career is concerned.”

Fungisai will also be releasing a video to accompany her last single as she kisses her long musical career goodbye.-Hmetro
