Furious Mnangagwa Removes Mugabes Rural Homestead And Farm Workers From Govt Payroll As Tension Escalates

Former president Robert Mugabe’s workers who were employed at his rural homestead in Zvimba and at his Highfield Farm in Norton have been fired by President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration. A significant number of the people who worked at Mugabe’s Zvimba residence were his relatives and used to be paid by the government. Mnangagwa is reported to have also reduced Mugabe’s personal security and totally removed former first lady Grace Mugabe’s security.

A high ranking source who spoke to the weekly publication, the Zimbabwe Independent, said,

A number of workers at Mugabe’s home in Zvimba who were being paid by government were fired from their jobs. Most of them stay in Zvimba…The same applies to labourers at his Highfield farm. They were also fired from their jobs.

Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Ray Ndhukula referred all questions to Mugabe saying,

The best person to comment on that matter would be the former president.

This comes at a time Mugabe has launched a major offensive against his successor saying that Mnangagwa is illegitimate as he came to power through a military coup.
