Gillian Zvomuya murder :Suspect remanded in custody to Monday

Norbert Chikerema, aged 42, who has been charged with the murder of his wife Gillian Zvomuya (Nyasha Kahari) was hurled before the courts on Thursday and has since been ordered to re-appear on Monday.

Chikerema of Overdale Road, Quinton appeared at Birmingham Magistrates’s Court Thursday morning charged with the murder of Zvomuya, who post-mortem reports indicate died of head injuries.

Chikerema was remanded in custody and will appear again at Birmingham Crown Court on Monday.

The family of a woman found dead in a Lidl supermarket car park have paid tribute to the “caring and hard-working” mum-of-four.

The body of Nyasha Kahari, from Sheldon, was found in car outside Lidl in Kitts Green at around 4.45am on Monday.

The 35-year-old, who is also known by friends as Gillian, died as a result of head injuries.

Officers had been searching for a couple after they were reported missing from their home in Quinton by friends at 2am.

In a statement, her family said: “Gillian was a decent, loving mother of four children, two boys and two girls. She was a caring and hardworking woman who always strived to keep her family happy.

“She will be missed by her family and all those who knew her. We hope that for her sake justice will prevail and closure can be brought to this unprecedented chapter.”

A Go Fund Me page has now been set up to raise £10,000 for Gillian’s children.

“Rest easy now Gillian, your children are in our hands now.”
