A man from Sun Yet Sent in Gwanda was slapped with a 20-year-sentence after he raped his daughter until she had difficulties in walking.
The girl who did not stay with his father was raped after a visit to the latter’s homestead in April 2018.
The matter was heard by Gwanda regional magistrate Mark Dzira.
On the first occasion, the biological father (who could not be named to protect the minor) of the complainant ordered her to get into his bedroom and she complied.
Tshuma followed the girl and ordered her to lie on his bed where he raped her once. The following day on their way from church the accused asked the complainant to accompany him into a nearby bush to fetch some firewood.
Tshuma ordered the complainant to get into a nearby gulley where he followed and again raped her once.
The matter came to light on April 20, 2018 when the complainant’s cousin Sipho Dube quizzed the girl on why she was facing difficulties in walking .The complainant then revealed that her father had sexually abused her twice without her consent.
The matter was reported to the Police leading to the arrest of the accused.
