A TORMENTED mother has spoke of her hell after spawning a “frog-like creature” in a bizarre birth branded “stranger than fiction”.
The couple, from the remote village of Gokwe, were expecting to cradle their “normal” newborn just like any other parents.
But the stunned couple were baffled to find the child resembled a pond-dwelling critter.

Despite the efforts of doctors, the tragic baby later died at Gokwe District Hospital, according to local media outlet The Herald.
In an interview with local media, Mrs Nyathi said: “I was expecting a child and this is what the heavens gave us.”
She added: “It’s a hellish experience that will haunt me all my life.”

Confused by the traumatic birth, the distraught couple took the baby home because they “didn’t know what to do with it”.
Mrs Nyathi said: “I had to keep it in my home waiting for some advice from the village elders as well as our local chief.”
But when the village leader Njelele caught wind of the odd birth, he ordered that the “frog-like creature” be burnt in front of a stunned crowd.
Chief Njelele said: “It’s stranger than fiction. I had to call hospital authorities and they indeed confirmed that she was one of their pregnant patients.
“They could not explain what happened to her pregnancy.”

“We were shocked when she visited the hospital in the company of her husband and some neighbours said she had delivered a frog.”
The hospital official added that “everything was normal” following a routine check up ahead of her birth.-DailyStar
