Horror as crocodile cut open and ‘remains of boy, 8, pulled out’

A shocking video allegedly shows the moment a boy’s remains were cut from a dead crocodile.

In the smartphone footage, several villagers in the village in Zimbabwe can be seen standing over the reptile.

 

A few of the men from Mushumbi Pools, in northern Zimbabwe’s Mashonaland Central Province, then cut the animal open.

Witnesses were shocked when the villagers pulled out what is believed to be the remains of an eight-year-old boy who had recently gone missing.

Local reporter Simbarashe Sithole, who works for Bulawayo24, said: ‘The crocodile was shot and was then cut open. The boy’s remains were found in the beast’s stomach.’

Villagers shot dead the crocodile suspecting it had killed and eaten the young boy. And when they cut open the huge beast's stomach, their worst fears were confirmed. The remains of the boy, whose name has not been revealed, were removed from the crocodile and buried two days later in a village funeral. The grisly images show men slitting open the crocodile, pulling human body parts from its belly and placing them on a grey blanket next to the dead animal. Villagers and a local policeman can be seen silently watching the grim operation in the background. Local reporter Simbarashe Sithole said: "The crocodile was shot and was then cut open. The boy's remains were found in the beast's stomach." Zimbabwe has recently been hit by heavy rain, raising river and dam levels, which can bring crocodiles to areas where they are not normally seen. A crocodile was recently shot dead in Beatrice, a farming community in the province of Mashonaland East, with what were believed to be the remains of a fisherman in its stomach.

Mr Sithole said a source told him the boy had been buried on Wednesday.

There has been an increase of crocodiles in the area following heavy rain, which raised river and dam levels.

Villagers also allegedly found a fisherman’s remains in another crocodile that was shot dead in Mashonaland East.
