Hotel room live bullet saga: New twist as CCTV footage suggests Minister may have planted it himself

A POLICE investigation following a report by Sport and Recreation Minister Makhosini Hlongwane that he found a live bullet in his hotel room has taken a new twist after CCTV footage shows no one entered his room, prompting investigators to dismiss the case, thezimbabwenewslive.com can reveal.

On Monday night last week, Hlongwane told the media that he found the bullet in his 16th floor room as he returned from work at around 6PM.

The incident comes at a time when Zanu-PF Midlands province, VP Mnangagwa’s heartland was set to conduct hearings against party provincial leaders who have been accused of threatening him and two other Ministers.

THREE ministers linked to Zanu PF’s G40 faction, Makhosini Hlongwane, Tapiwa Matangaidze and Annastacia Ndhlovu, are set to be booted out of the Midlands provincial structures.

The G40, aligned to First Lady Grace Mugabe, is trying to derail Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s presidential bid by, among other things, seeking to have him replaced by a female vice-president.

The Midlands province has since set up a five member disciplinary committee led by the provincial deputy chairman, McKenzie Ncube and John Holder to look into the matter.
